Please do not park in Mortlake Cemetery for a crematorium service.
Where are your chapels located?
We have one chapel currently in use for burial services. This is located in Mortlake Cemetery behind the toilet block which is straight ahead from the main entrance on Clifford Avenue.
How many people can fit in your chapel?
60 people can be seated in our chapel with around 15 people standing.
How long can I use the chapel for a service?
A single time slot is for 40 minutes, this includes 5 minutes for entering and exiting the chapel and 30 minutes for the service. If you would like to book a double time slot, please speak with your funeral director who will be able to arrange this.
What happens if my service overruns?
You may be liable for a service overrun fee depending on the situation, please ensure that your service fits into the allotted time slot.
Can myself or members of my family backfill the grave?
Yes, we will provide shovels if you would like to backfill the grave and we allow a maximum of two people to backfill at one time, however you will need to mention this with your funeral director when making the funeral arrangements. Your funeral director must be at the grave side for the full duration of the backfill, no backfilling will take place without the presence of a funeral director.
Do you offer weekend burial bookings?
We offer burial bookings weekdays between 10am and 2pm, we do not currently have weekend availability.
Do you have toilets at your cemeteries?
The toilets at Mortlake Cemetery are opened only for services taking place that day, they will be closed after the mourners have left the cemetery. The toilets at North Sheen Cemetery are left open during office hours 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. There are no toilets available at Margravine and Fulham Cemeteries.
Do you have parking?
We don't have a designated carpark; however, you can park anywhere on the main roads in our cemeteries, providing there is room for other vehicles to pass by. Please do not park in Mortlake Cemetery for a crematorium service.
How do I search for the grave number of someone buried in the cemetery?
To search for a grave in one of our cemeteries, please use the link to the online form below. You will need the full name of the deceased, month and year of death. This information can be found by contacting the registrars office for the district where the deceased died.
Grave search application form.
I have a grave number, but am unable to locate the grave in the cemetery
An overview of the whole cemetery is available on each cemetery page, however if you are looking for a grave please contact us for maps of specific sections of the cemetery.
What is the latest time I can leave the cemetery?
Our cemeteries close at different times throughout the year, see the 'general information for visitors' tab for more information. Visitors are asked to start making their way towards the gates 15 minutes before closing time.
How often do you cut the grass in your cemeteries?
Grass cutting starts in the spring months and ends early autumn, weather permitting. At North Sheen and Mortlake Cemeteries we start from one end of the cemetery and work our way through to the other. We would ask visitors to be mindful of the fact that we are working our way through the cemetery and will start again as soon as we are finished, but during this time the grass at the beginning of the cemetery may have become long.
At Margravine and Fulham Cemetery the grass is left to grow for certain periods of the year to allow for biodiversity.
