Availability
We have graves available to purchase for burial at need in our Mortlake, North Sheen and Margravine Cemeteries.
We offer Lawn style graves at both Mortlake and North Sheen Cemeteries. Lawn graves allow for a headstone only, planting / leaving items along the length of the grave or placing a full-length memorial is not permitted on these graves.
At Margravine Cemetery we have traditional style graves available to purchase. Traditional graves allow for the length of the grave to be planted or for a full memorial to be erected.
We no longer have graves available to purchase in reserve.
See Installing a memorial for information on memorials.
Grave selection
Due to the general lack of burial space across London we are unable to provide a grave selection service as this can cause the cemetery to lose burial space where graves are not dug consecutively. If you have a preferred section, where you would like your grave to be, please call the cemetery office and where we can check if this will be possible to find a grave nearby
Fees for purchasing a grave and interment
The fees for purchasing a grave and interment are determined by whether the deceased was a resident of Hammersmith and Fulham or not. The fees for non-residents will be double the cost of the resident fee. Please be aware that we may ask for proof of residency in the form of either a council tax bill or polling card. Where the deceased has moved out of the borough within the last five years, residents fee will be charged where proof of residency has been provided.
All payments must be made through the funeral director, by either cheque or card (call 0208 878 1934). Payment for a burial must be made in full before or on the day of funeral.
Booking a day and time for the burial service
All bookings for full burials must be made through your chosen funeral director. Bookings by email will not be accepted.
Our last burial time of the day is either 2pm direct at the grave or 1pm into chapel. Please ensure that you leave enough time for the service as this could result in an overrun fee being charged. It is possible to book a double time in chapel should you require more time for the service.
