The Alzheimer’s Society runs a Day Centre 6 days a week at St. Vincent’s, catering for up to 20 clients per day.
To be considered for a place, a referral by a qualified professional (ie. G.P., Social Worker, Specialist Consultant) has to be made.
The criteria for someone to attend is:
- They must be a resident of H&F
- They must have a diagnosis of a type of dementia
- They must benefit from the service (by actively taking part in a cognitively stimulating programme)
- They must not require nursing care.
A variety of different activities are run including:
Art, Poetry, Reminiscence , Gentle Exercise, Sing-along sessions and a range of word and number games.
Clients are collected in the mornings from their home and taken back from 3pm in the afternoon.
