The London Central Mosque offers an informal Community Support community which gives Muslim residents the opportunity to drop in to socialize, chat and make friends. The on-site restaurant (located downstairs) is open throughout the day, till last call to prayers (Isha), where you can come and go to mix with fellow attendees and have meals or drinks whilst you chat.
To introduce new attendees to the community, the Imam or secretary can introduce them to the regulars to welcome and befriend.
Current users include older adults, wheelchair users and those who are socially isolated who often attend throughout the day to socialise. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and speak a wide range of languages including Arabic, Urdu and Sylheti.
