The Listening Eye has been set up to offer Support for anyone with a sight problem throughout the United Kingdom. It was set up by a group of blind people who are willing to listen or chat about particular problems or offer advice.
This service was set up to provide a contact to local agencies where necessary, and was established primarily to help those in rural areas who feel isolated by their visual handicap. However, it is also as relevant for any visually impaired person or their carers where ever they live, and can often help by way of a sounding board or to allay fears about sight related problems.
They offer support and empathy to anyone who needs the chance to talk about any aspect of failing sight.
The service is available between 6 and 10 pm Tuesday to Thursday evenings on Freefone 0800 783 1979.
