LEGS are a registered charity providing rehabilitation in a supportive and enjoyable group environment for people who have had a stroke or have a neurological condition. The sessions are run by a physiotherapist who has experience in acute and community NHS stroke rehabilitation and knowledge of local community stroke services. LEGS consists of a 12 week course of weekly exercise, group support and discussion sessions. The exercise sessions are of moderate intensity and include stretches, functional strengthening, balance and fitness, using an evidence-based approach.
The group is ideal for people finishing their NHS rehabilitation and LEGS welcomes residents of any borough, at all stages of stroke recovery, or with any neurological condition, who wish to increase their exercise and social participation. LEGS accepts self-referrals via email or telephone directly from potential participants, as well as referrals from health professionals and other colleagues.
All potential participants will need to attend a physiotherapy assessment and exercise safety screening before joining the group.
They run a mixture of face to face sessions from their Notting Hill venue and online sessions on Zoom.
