Transport for hospital appointments

If you have problems with mobility and are unable to get independently to a hospital appointment using other transport options, then you may be eligible for support.

Contact the hospital transport centre who will assess your eligibility over the phone and may then book you into non-emergency patient transport if you qualify.

Call them on 0330 678 1245. The phone line is open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Bookings are made only where there is a clear medical need, in line with national policy. Financial disadvantage alone will not entitle you to free patient transport.

The service can be used for people with outpatient appointments at the following hospitals:

  • Charing Cross Hospital
  • Hammersmith Hospital
  • Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital
  • St Mary's Hospital
  • The Western Eye Hospital.
