Home library service

We can deliver books, CDs and other items to you if you can't visit a library.

What is the home library service?

If you can't get to your local library because of illness, disability, frailty or caring responsibilities, we can deliver items to you once every three weeks. We provide:

  • books (in both normal print and large print formats)
  • audiobooks
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • information requests

And best of all – it's free!

We spent a day with the home library service – watch our video.

How do I join?

All we need is:

  • your name
  • an address and contact phone number
  • your reason for applying

If you are applying on behalf of someone, we need your contact details too. You can contact us with these details via the information at the bottom of the page.

What happens next?

Once you have registered, we will contact you to arrange a time and date to visit you in your home. We need to find out:

  • what books and materials you would like us to bring
  • the day and time you want us to visit you
  • any other specific requests.

The home library service is a befriending service too, so getting to know you and your tastes ensures that we are able to provide the best service possible.

Deposit collections

As well as individual deliveries, we can provide deposit collections to institutions, such as sheltered housing and nursing homes.
