Prevent awareness training is a key statutory requirement of the Prevent duty for schools, colleges and childcare providers.
The Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea Prevent team recommend that all staff attend a Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent ideally at least every two years.
The Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent is:
- Free of charge
- Delivered by the Prevent Education Officer
- Available throughout the academic year, in person or online via Microsoft Teams
- Available for teaching and support staff, senior leadership and governors
- Available as introductory training (90 minutes) or refresher training (60 minutes)
Key advantages:
- An engaging alternative to e-Learning
- An opportunity for discussion and questions
- Includes coverage of the local threat picture
- Fosters partnership working with the local Prevent team
By the end of the training, staff will:
- Understand the Prevent strategy and their role within it
- Have gained a sense of the national and local threat pictures
- Be able to identify who might be vulnerable to radicalisation; why some people can influence and manipulate others; and when a vulnerable individual may need help
- Know when, where and how to get help
