Getting help (community services)

This section is for children and young people who have mild to moderate mental health problems and who would benefit from support from community services.

MIND Mental Health Support Teams (MHST)

MHST supports children aged 5 to 18 children with mild to moderate mental health needs, low mood, anxiety and challenging behaviour via one to one and group-based activities in schools. They work directly with children, young people, and families. Parents and carers are offered help for their own mental health as well as advice and support for their children's problems. They offer signposting support for children and young people with more severe needs, supporting schools and families to make appropriate referrals.

Be kind to your mind

Hammersmith, Fulham Ealing and Hounslow Mind provides emotional and wellbeing support for children and young people in schools and colleges in Hammersmith and Fulham who do not have a dedicated mental health support team (MHST). Therapeutic arts intervention, safe and reliable information about mental health and wellbeing, mind on music as means of self-expression.
Who can refer: Referrals for individual work are completed by school-based staff with parental consent.

Community Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Community Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) offers assessment and short-term therapeutic work to children and young people aged 0 to 17. Interventions include individual and group work.
Who can refer: Health, social care and education professionals working with the child can refer. The person with parental responsibility must consent to the referral.

Parent and carer forum (CAMHS)

This forum run by CAMHS which takes place once a month is an opportunity to connect with other parents who have shared experiences, building networks of support. Parents can give feedback about their own and their children's experiences of CAMHS.

Parent and carer support groups West London Trust

Integrated Key Worker Team

The integrated keyworker team support children aged 0 to 13 with additional needs and disabilities by providing information, advice and support, coordination of services, support to access services and support during transitions.
Who can refer: Parents and professionals can call the duty line to discuss the specific needs of the child or young person to ensure that the appropriate service is being referred to.

The Educational Psychology Service

The Educational Psychology Service works with schools to help them deliver psychological support to young people. The service works with students who are impacted by a mental health concern that has become a significant barrier to learning, emotional regulation or attendance.

Educational Psychology Service

West London Zone

West London Zone link workers work in 17 schools in H&F to offer a personalised two-year programme of mentoring, one-to-one and group support for at-risk young people to build the skills and relationships they need to get on track socially, emotionally and academically.

Looked After Children CAMHS

LAC CAMHS supports looked after children and those on the edge of care identified as vulnerable, experiencing emotional distress and or mental ill health difficulties (moderate to severe emotional and mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, PTSD, relationship difficulties or emotional dysregulation). Your child needs to be registered with a Hammersmith and Fulham GP.

Cheyne Child Development and Neurodisability Service

Cheyne Child Development and Neurodisability Service provides autism assessments and diagnosis for children aged 0 to 18. Work includes identification, assessment, investigation and support of children with long term neurodevelopmental disorders and neuro-disabilities. Professionals such as GPs, health visitors, Paediatric hospital professionals, SENCOs, educational psychology or social workers will refer your child to the service if needed.

West London Action for Children

Free, independent and confidential therapy and counselling for families in receipt of Universal Credit. The service offers school-based, 1:1 or group counselling for children and young people aged 18 or under.

Home Start Westminster

Supporting families with a child under 5 or who are expecting a baby and who are experiencing difficulties including isolation, depression, and relationship breakdown. Befriending, therapy, perinatal support and school preparation programmes.

CouRAGEus project - counselling service

The CouRAGEus project from Solace Women's Aid supports Black and minoritised young women, including those from ethnic minority groups, LGBT+ and disabled young women. Their counselling service offers emotional support and a safe space to speak for young people, aged 14-24 who experienced domestic violence.

Anna Freud

If your child is under 5, visit the Anna Freud website for information about common difficulties in the early years.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project - Yuva Young People's Service

1-to-1 support for young people who are using violence or abuse towards their parents or carers. The service also supports parents and carers experiencing abuse from their children.
Who can refer: Self-referrals and referrals from parents and professionals. Both the young person and parent must consent.

Angelou

Support for women and girls over the age of 13 who have experienced sexual violence, abuse, rape, domestic abuse, stalking and harassment, FGM, honour-based or faith-based violence.

For children aged 4-18 who have lived with domestic abuse, and who don't currently live with the alleged perpetrator. The aim is to help children process their emotions and experiences of living with domestic abuse and help them move on with their lives.

Calm Harm App

Calm Harm and an app that provides young people over the age of 13 with some immediate activities and techniques to help break the cycle of self-harm behaviour and explore underlying trigger factors. The Calm Harm app also signposts to help.

Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT)

Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) provide mental health services for adults. Teams are based in the community and work closely with GPs, social services and voluntary organisations.
Who can refer: You need to be referred by your GP, hospital or social services.

Children Heard and Seen

Children Heard and Seen supports children, young people and their families who are impacted by parental imprisonment to ensure that their voices are heard. It offers 1-1 support with trained staff, volunteer mentoring, parent support, peer support groups for children, online activities for children and activity days.
