This bin service is ideal for those businesses who produce larger amounts of waste and have space on site to store the bins. A risk assessment will need to be completed by a Commercial Waste Officer before a bin can be delivered.
General waste collections
General waste is collected in black bins with black lid. These are only for non-recyclable general waste.
They must not be used for any hazardous waste, including liquids, raw meat and animal by-products, chemical waste, biological waste, dangerous or injurious materials, hot or burning material. Separate specialist provider needs to be arranged for these.
They must not be used for bulky waste items. Bulky waste collections can be arranged by contacting the Cleaner Greener contact Centre on 020 8753 1100 or via Cleaner.greener@lbhf.gov.uk

Dry mixed recycling collections
Recycling is collected in black bins with orange lid.
Dry recycling bins are for:
- paper and cardboard
- glass
- plastic (excluding plastic bottles that have been used to contain oil or hazardous/flammable chemicals such as paint thinners etc.)
- tins and cans
- paper-based food and drink cartons (e.g. Tetrapak).

Food waste collections
Food waste is collected in grey caddies or black wheeled bins with grey lids.
Food waste bins are for:
- teabags and coffee grounds
- fruit and veg peelings
- leftovers and plate scrapings
- bread, rice and pasta
- fish, meat and bones

Collection times and days
All agreements can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual businesses for collections and can be arranged seven days a week for waste and Mon to Fri for recycling and food.
Unless specific arrangements have been agreed, please ensure that your bins are available to us from 6am on the day of collection. Bins can be placed out from 9pm on the evening before collection day.
How to store and present your bins for collection
The bins need to be stored within the boundaries of your property. It is your responsibility to provide a suitable storage area. The bin remains property of the council during the duration of the contract and need to be returned at the end of the contract. If the bin is lost or stolen, charges will apply to replace the bin.
They can be put out for collection to the agreed collection point after 9pm on the evening before collection day and before 6am on the day of your collection.
Any change to the collection point or access to the bins needs to be agreed in advance with us.
