Shepherds Bush cricketers had an exciting away win against North Middlesex at the weekend, racking up 172 in their 58 overs before the final wicket fell. North Middlesex could only manage 156 in reply, handing Bush the points.

Played in sunshine at North Middlesex's Park Road ground, Bush won the toss and decided to bat first. Captain Ali Easton top-scored with 37; a tally which included six boundaries. Other double-figure contributors included Harvey Jupp (24), Ikjot Thind (21), Joe Carrasco (19), Hugo Hughes (also 19) and James Kidson, who was 13 not out.

For North Mid, Joel Hughes shouldered most of the work with the ball, taking five wickets in his 21 overs. The home side then made a shaky start to their batting as Alex MacQueen was caught by Luke Matthews off Easton's bowling for a single. Luke Hollman steadied the ship with a strong 36, before also being caught by Matthews. Divyanshu Bhartiya scored 38 before being caught by Easton off Jupp's bowling, while Matthews made it a trio of catches by holding David Heavyside's hit off Henry Blofield's bowling.

Defeat for women's XI

On Monday, Shepherds Bush women's 1st Xl lost to Primrose Hill by 36 runs in a 20-over match, after winning the toss and opting to field.

Primrose Hill managed a score of 119 for 8, with captain, keeper and opener Frankie Chambers reaching 32 before retiring. Dishi Gurbani scored 24 and Angana Parekh 20.

Michelle Gee was the pick of the Shepherds Bush bowlers, taking four wickets for 9 runs in her four overs; an excellent display on her home turf of Bromyard Avenue.

In reply, Lucie Prior scored 15 before being run out. Other wickets tumbled cheaply, with three of the Bush batters out first ball as the score flipped from an encouraging 22-1 to a more alarming 27-5. In the end, Bush were all out for 83, with Aanya Dhami accounting for four wickets.

This weekend Shepherds Bush men's 1st Xl host Stanmore at Bromyard Avenue, with the match starting at noon on Saturday (17 August). With the weather set fine, it's a great chance to enjoy some excellent cricket, and a well-stocked clubhouse bar. Meanwhile Bush women are away to Crouch End on Sunday, with a 10am start at the Calthorpe ground in Park Road, N8.
