Eberechi Eze put in a comfortable and assured home debut for Rs; but, like his side, he may need to show more of his dirty and ugly side before the season is much older.

Rangers' new number 10 looks like being one of the campaign's more positive headline-makers, following a performance which saw the Loftus Road faithful singing his name.

In possession of the ball he looked comfortable, appearing way above his 20 years; inspiring a chant of 'Eze's too good for you' - to a tune synonymous with a certain Adel Taarabt, of W12 days past.

But with another gruelling Championship season ahead, this youthful Rangers side will need to find ability to grind out results and see out games.

Their more experienced opponents Sheffield United, much like last week's foe Preston North End, were able to do this and therefore took the points - something Rangers have found hard for a few seasons now.

The presence and experience of the new 'BFG' Toni Leistner was hugely noticeable in the heart of the Rs defence.

But there is already question hanging as to whether the loan market is going to be able to deliver squad depth, to help Eze and other youthful sparks reach their full potential.

Everyone associated with the club wants these homegrowns to be successful in the blue and white hoops.

But the naivety shown on Saturday shows the desperate need for experience.

World class talent is not in the job description.

As Shaun Derry, Clint Hill and Ryan Nelsen have shown in seasons past: the greater desire is for the sort of character to help see the side us over the line.

That, more than anything, is what is needed for this talented and exciting Rangers side to have a successful season.
