Singing from the same hymn sheet

QPR’s Championship status is safe. The summer holidays have begun.

Holloway cannot be disappointed after a gritty season where he fought on with the cards he was dealt.

He was no stranger to the state of the club when he took over the reins; his beloved club that he calls a second home who secured their Championship status for another season with a 2-0 win over Forest last weekend.

What will next season bring us? A few summer signings for sure with new defenders and attackers high on the transfer targets board. Holloway is bringing the stability the Hoops needed after a brutally honest assignment of the team.

Now the players are singing from the same hymn sheet and better things are to be expected next season.

"That win means the world to me," said Holloway.

“We showed we can win and keep a clean sheet which will give us all confidence heading in to next season. I couldn't be happier. I'm glad we got over the line. We made hard work of it but I'm glad we're safe heading into the final weekend. I want to thank everyone at the club for the last few months. Yes it's been hard but that's football. There are no givens, especially in this league. But we're safe, we're already well into our planning for next season and I'm already looking forward to it. I believe we will get better and better over time.

“The threat of relegation was on everybody's mind, including the supporters. It's a relief for everybody, but the job starts now. I'm delighted with the lads. They needed the fans and the fans were absolutely brilliant - they must have felt nervous but it didn't transmit to my team. I know I haven't won enough games. But no-one wants it more than me and I want this club to move forward."

It has been a topsy-turvy season down at Loftus Road and now there is only one more game to go before the curtain comes down on the campaign as QPR visit Carrow Road on Sunday.

Pina Coladas at the ready come the final whistle.
