Darnell Furlong is back in W12 and looks more like the finished product than when he made his QPR debut back in 2015.

To be fair to the young defender, he was thrown into a team that were in dire straits, looking relegation straight down the barrel, a little like how my father taught me to swim down at the old Fulham pools; throwing me head first into the deep end.

Furlong made his first start since being recalled from his loan spell with Swindon in the 1-0 win over Reading last week that had many R’s fans waxing lyrical about the talented full back on the fan forums.

“It was great to be thrown straight back into the team and play again for the club after my loan. Then to get a win in my first game back was amazing. Everyone was buzzing in the changing room after the game as it was a huge victory and meant three wins on the bounce for the club. Confidence is huge in football and we want to take that into the Fulham game and get another positive result,” said the 21-year-old.

Furlong is the son of QPR and Chelsea legend Paul Furlong who was signed by Holloway over fourteen and a half years ago from Birmingham to team up with the Bristolian at Loftus Road.

The Hoops gaffer joked about managing Darnell’s kids in the future but the promising talent knows Holloway and the senior players still have work to do on his own game.

“The time at Swindon really helped me and I got the chance to get some real game time under my belt. The manager there helped me and now I want to try and keep my place in the team and play more games for QPR. I can learn so much from the older guys in the team to make those improvements to my game and with those improvements I can better help the team,” added Furlong.

The QPR defender should keep his place ahead of the experienced Perch for the derby against Fulham on Saturday.

Rangers should do the double over the Whites but I'm keeping my money firmly in my pocket this time.

Damn accumulators.
