Four defeats on the bounce is not the return QPR expected when they appointed Holloway.

His spirit rising win over Norwich seems a distant memory now but the performances are improving and as Rodney Marsh said, patience is needed with Holloway.

The Hoops deserved to take more from the game against Derby on Wednesday.

"We put on a superb performance against a side that is flying at the moment. I thought it was an excellent performance apart from what's normally really good with us, which is deliveries. There are a lot of positives to take from this game and we need to focus on that," said Holloway.

"The fans are obviously not happy with the results of late but we are giving our all and the results will come. This club means everything to me and I want the fans to be proud of their team once again."

So the focus is now on Aston Villa who visit Loftus Road on Sunday with a midday kick-off.

The beauty of football is that there is always another game to redeem yourself. Up until a point. So let's see what drama unfolds this weekend.

Meanwhile, Holloway continues to build his team. On Thursday, the club announced that Curtis Fleming had been appointed first team coach.

The 48 year-old joined from Hartlepool United, where he was assistant manager. Following his playing career, Fleming moved into coaching in 2006 and has worked at a number of clubs, including Livingston, Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers.

"Different voices are important – and players respond to that," Holloway said.

"I'm delighted that I've been able to bring somebody in, so I can hand out the song-sheet and we can make sure we're all singing off the same one, day in, day out."
