After failing to win a game against any of their neighbours since November 2013, the Hoops secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Brentford.
The record-breaking did not stop there as the R's earned their first back-to-back wins since late December.
Have QPR turned over a new leaf? The evidence is mounting up in their favour however the trip to Preston this Saturday will be a real indicator of whether or not Hasselbaink's men mean business.
"We need to build on our good form and continue to get the wins with just nine games left this season. The team is full of confidence and playing some attractive football. Success breeds success. The lads are showing the potential this team has and now we are getting the results. We will aim to do the same against Preston and continue our climb up the table," said the former Dutch striker.
There are faint whispers of the play-offs amongst the QPR faithful but Hasselbaink is not looking that far ahead.
The Hoops remain nine points off the play-off positions and time is running out to mount a serious push for promotion.
"This league takes no prisoners and we are fully aware of that so we cannot get carried away. We must simply focus on the next game. We cannot look too far ahead as every game poses its dangers and we need to be at the races every time we step out onto the pitch. We can leapfrog Preston into tenth place with a win so we are aiming to take home the three points and finish as high as possible this season," added Hasselbaink.
There is a positive vibe coming from the QPR players these days but the recent upturn in form may be a little too late.
In order to reach Wembley, Rangers must rack up away wins against Middlesbrough, Burnley and Brighton who currently sit in the top six and pray their nearest rivals drop points.
Promotion? Never say never. But I would not put my house on it.
