Electoral services
Welcome to Hammersmith and Fulham’s electoral services web pages. Here you will find useful links and information about registering to vote, voting in elections and how you can get involved in the electoral process.
What we do
The Electoral Services team are responsible for administering the electoral process in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. This means that we:
• prepare and maintain a complete and accurate register of electors
• organise elections and referendums which take place in the borough
• promote public awareness of, and participation in, the electoral process
• provide a high standard of service to all local residents
Registering to vote
Everyone who is eligible to vote must ensure that their name appears on the register of electors. You can apply to be added to the register, or have your details amended, at any time during rolling registration. Additionally, we conduct an annual canvass between September and November when we write to every household in the borough to confirm the details for every resident who should be included on the register.
For more information on registering to vote please visit our Registration page.
If you know that you are eligible and you haven't yet registered, you can download a Voter registration form here (pdf, 200KB - one person per form).
Elections and voting
The next elections in the borough will be the Greater London Authority and London Mayoral elections in 2012. A referendum on electoral reform is expected to take place in 2011. You should make sure that you are registered so that you can have your say.
If you are registered there is a choice of ways in which you can vote. Most people choose to vote in person, however it may be more convenient for you to post by post or appoint a proxy to vote for you.
For more information on elections in the borough and the ways you can vote please visit our Elections and voting page.
Getting involved
During the annual canvass and at election time we are always looking to recruit local people to the electoral services team and help us to deliver the excellent service that our residents have come to expect. For details of our current vacancies and how to apply please visit our Recruitment page.
